Another caribou hunting zone opens in Labrador

Dr. Rex Gibbons, Minister of Natural Resources, announced today that effective immediately, the Orma South caribou hunting zone, in Labrador is open to caribou hunting, adding animals from the George River herd have now moved into this zone. Dr. Gibbons wishes to remind hunters that hunting is also permitted in Michikiamu East (including the area one kilometre south of the southern boundary), Orma North and Bay of Islands zones and the newly created, Grand Lake caribou zone. The minister also stated that wildlife staff will continue to monitor the movement of the George River caribou herd and that additional zones may be created and/or opened as the herd migration continues. As well, with the migration out of a zone, the zone may be closed, added the minister.
